Officials recently announced some of the stars that will take the stage during the 136th annual May Fair, set for May 4 to 8.
Selena Gomez is a widely recognized singer and actress who stars on Disney Channel's Emmy award winning series "Wizards of Waverly Place." On the big screen Gomez was seen last summer in Fox's "Ramona & Beezus" and will next be seen in "Monte Carlo" opposite Katie Cassidy and Leighton Meester.
Signed to Hollywood Records in 2009, Gomez released her debut album, "Kiss & Tell" with her band and it was certified Gold. "Naturally," the second single off "Kiss & Tell" was later certified Platinum. For their second album "A Year Without Rain," Selena and her band dived deeper into dance music and recently won the People's Choice Award for "Favorite Breakout Artist."
"Selena Gomez is absolutely off the charts right now," Murphy said. "Everywhere she goes, she has been a huge sellout."
Tickets for both concerts will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Dixon May Fair box office and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Reserved seat tickets are available for $49 and $45 and general admission seats at $39. Prices include all-day admission into the fair.
"This is a fantastic lineup," Murphy said. "I think this is one of the strongest ones we have had in quite some time."
Murphy added that the fair will announce more entertainment at a later date.
"We try to cover the whole gamut," Murphy said of the concert lineup. "We want artists that are good and well-known, and people will come for the concerts and also come for the rest of the activities at the fair."
Rodeo Tickets Selling Fast!
As usual, tickets for some of the top shows at the Houston Rodeo are once again selling like hotcakes.
Rodeo officials said there are only about 8,000 tickets each remaining for Selena Gomez, Janet Jackson and KISS, and just over 10,000 each left for Brad Paisley and Kid Rock. That's not that many!
